July proved to be a stellar month……..although the water levels are3 weeks behind; we got to see a longer run of hatching stoneflies this season. Big Ugly patterns seemed to be the theme for the beginning of July and the last few weeks we started seeing the good old mayflies. Lots of caddis and big ones at that. Flip some rocks and you will see abundance of bug life.

The water levels ran high for most of July and the above average snow pack kept the flows high and off color. This didn’t stop fishing from being productive; just slowed the morning sessions down as the bugs n fish waited for the sun to warm things up.

As we head into the month of August we await the presence of hot sunny days with cool evenings to entice the hatches.
