Be still my beating heart; the sight of a rising fish……The excitement peaks…..for I look through my box of flies to find the perfect imitation…I stop myself amongst the search; sit down and watch that fish rise. The need to catch him has passed and watching the magic of his intuition has me more mesmerized than the first thought. You know life is good when amongst a busy existence you can truly appreciate the beauty of the angling connection…….The Elk River fishery really is mother natures gift to anglers!
Fishing this July has had it’s up’s and downs and the late start to the season carried the anticipation further into the month! Despite the high water and a few crazy July storms; we’ve had some seriously productive fishing. Creating memories and having a good time is what’s it’s all about and from the grins on guests faces at the end of the day; the guides have done a spectacular job of sharing the beauty of the fishing and the valley.
Fly Fishing is the connection between friends, mother nature, the water and trying to understand a trouts intuition.
This month had some great adventures including hosting large corporate groups; falling in the river trying to land a 12 pound bulltrout that one of our guests caught on a 3wt to hiking from one end of a creek to the next through high water and brush and right down to relaxing on a beautiful drift catching big cutties on the Elk River…..It’s all what we live for!
I wanted to thank each of my guests for making the journey up to Fernie to fish with us! Remember wherever you go in your adventures and wherever you find yourselves hiring guides; it’s not just memories for you it’s memories for us as well.
