These Trout will really put fly fishing rods to the test.
World renowned blue ribbon rivers, streams and lakes, internationally recognized guides, breathtakingly beautiful scenery, great fly fishing rods and tackle – we provide it all. Fly fishing rivers, streams or lakes for trophy Trout or just learning the ropes, our guides and pro staff are dedicated and committed to ensuring you enjoy an unforgettable wilderness experience. Walk and wade, drift or float, the choice is yours.
Our guides transport you away from any sign of civilization into the tranquil, pristine wilderness to fish secret creeks only known by a handful of our very own experienced fly fishing guides who have lived their entire lives in this local area.
Other rivers include:
The Kootenay River, Flathead River, Oldman River, Crowsnest River & Bow River.
Very few people know the secret to catching huge Rainbow Trout (fish over 10lb in this area). Our guides have lived in the area all their lives and know when, where and how to catch them. Most anglers come to this area during the summer months; in search of the popular river systems unknowing that just beyond the next ridge; hidden away within the nooks of the Elk Valley are many opportunities to fish some very productive lakes.
The BC freshwater society has a fantastic stocking program and we are fortunate enough to have the Kootenay Trout Hatchery supplying our local lake systems with a variety of trout. There are over 50 productive lakes in the Kootenays and you don’t have to travel far to find them.
Those who lake fish can say that there is a sense of mystery and adventure about it all. Those who haven’t fished many lakes, the Kootenays is a great place to learn! The anticipation of ice off every year never seems to fade and this year was no exception. As many of the lakes are at different elevations; ice off happens at different times; making weather the deciding factor of which lake to fish and when.
The internal questions circle of what to use, where to fish and past experiences lead you to use one technique over the other. Take the guess work out of the local lakes and spend the day with one of Fernie Fly Fishing’s guides.
To be successful, the first thing to do is fall in love with your work and we love what we do and can’t wait to share a fishery we adore so much with you. The biggest asset to our company are the guides that represent us and we are proud towork with such a fun, diverse and passionate group of angling guides.
We know the Fernie Fly Fishing Guides are incredible, spend a day on the water with any of them and you will agree!
