To be successful, the first thing to do is fall in love with your work and we love what we do and can’t wait to share a fishery we adore so much with you. The biggest asset to our company are the guides that represent us and we are proud to work with such a fun, diverse and passionate group of angling guides.
Beckie Clarke has been a fixture in the local fly fishing community for over 15 years and considers herself someone who is dedicated to sharing her passions for life, adventure and fishing with others. Beckie teaches fly fishing and fly tying classes at the College of the Rockies and donates her time to various community events including the Kootenay Trout Hatchery annual Woman’s Fly Fishing Retreat.
She enjoys hiking into backcountry streams in search of the next hatch or big fish; just as much as she loves rowing her hyde drift boat. In the winter months you will find her managing her other business, on the mountain skiing or in some warmer weather destination chasing sun and saltwater fish.
You may have seen Beckie in fly fishing magazines, or videos such as Trout TV , WFN, and Clearly BC – Part 1 & 2 filmed by Todd Moen from Catch Magazine.
Beckie is also a member of the Islander Pro Advisory Staff , International Woman’s Fly Fishers and is sponsored by Columbia Sportswear. She is a very busy guide and books up fast, so if you would like to enjoy a day on the water with her; make sure to let us know early.

Blair Parker is one of Fernie’s long time fly fishing guides. His passion in life is fly fishing.
He is a genuine and kind guide who enjoys a day of fishing with friends as much as sharing the water with guests. His knowledge extends from the Bow River in Calgary, the Elk River all the way over to the St. Mary in Kimberly and up north to the Babine.
Those who have guided with Blair have always commented on how well he knows the water and his direction throughout the day have helped guests land some pretty sweet fish. You are in safe hands with Blair at the oars and you can be assured that you will have a nothing less than a great day of fishing! In the fall you can find Blair catching outrageously fat bull trout on one of his favorite rivers!
We would be more than happy to hook you up with Blair for a day on the river.

John Avery lives along the banks of the Elk River with his lovely wife and dog; he has a styling fly tying set up and the flies you fish with in his boat more than likely come from his vise. Combined with his passion for angling and knowledge of the local fishery; John is a seasoned Elk River guide.
John has also has his hand in the spot light with tv episodes including the Dimestore Fisherman and TSN.
John is always seeking out adventure and he is not only an avid fly fisherman; but is also passionate about skiing. He works on the mountain during the winter months, spends the summer guiding on the local water and often heads up north in the fall to chase steelhead.

Steve is a new face at Fernie Fly Fishing but certainly isn’t a new face on the Elk River. He is a friendly and intelligent guide with years of fly fishing experience in the Elk Valley. To say Steve fishes a lot is a understatement as he figures he puts over a hundred days a year in the East Kootenay and Southern Alberta river networks.
When Steve isn’t out fishing he loves to ski in the winter and bike in the summer. Skiing and biking are what brought Steve to the mountains but after moving here he found Fernie had so much more to offer!

Colton was born in Alberta and when he was under a year old he moved to Fernie and has spent every spare minute since then exploring the waters and backcountry of the Elk Valley.
The Elk Valley is blessed with so many amazing streams and it’s not hard to get into the sport living in Fernie, but it’s his grandfather that started his obsession for fly fishing.
Always smiling, Coltons passion for fly fishing is inspirational and a day on the water with him is nothing less than exciting. He enjoys catching numbers of fish but most importantly is the experience he is giving his guests and believes it’s all about the memories you make on the water. He can truly say he’s never had a bad day on the water.
Colton is known for his obsession with char, chasing bull trout in remote waters and is favorite fly to fish for them is the sex dungeon patterns.
The love of guiding stems from his passion and sharing his knowledge.
We asked what Colton does when he’s not fishing - the answer was easy - exploring new fisheries and new waters. His bucket list place to fish would be anywhere for arctic char on the tree river and also for brookies.
We are stoked to have Colton as part of the Fernie Fly Fishing guide team.
